My first contact with Apple was through an Apple II where I took my first game course back in the early 80s. Yeah, it’s been a while. My first Apple, well, it was more like a Pear, it was a Microdigital TK2000 II. There were many wonderful sleepless nights! Then came the other “more professional” clones: Exato, Epcot, and even CCE.

And so, a lifelong marriage of 40 years between me and Apple has come to an end. No, it doesn’t feel like yesterday, a lot of water has passed under the bridge, and I’m grateful for every moment.
Very well! Then came Macintosh, iMac, Mac, Mac Pro, Mac This, Mac That. And later, iPod, iPhone, iPad, AppleTV, etc.
I was always more than a customer, a loyalist. A loyalist to a brand that has been neglecting its customers.
Jobs was never a saint: “customers don’t know what they want until we tell them what they want.” However, Apple is getting more expensive every day (their products have always been pricey) and more annoying.
This obsession with controlling even the underwear I wear has crossed the line. Who hasn’t been #annoyed by the constant insistence on updating their devices?
And the excessive control? Man, I don’t want to have to hack my device to get full access!
The final blow was a Mac Mini I bought. This is my 5th Mac Mini, but the new ones are so bad, so bad that you have to replace the HDD with a Fusion (or SSD), otherwise you can’t work. Oh, and you can’t upgrade the memory. What a nightmare, Cook!
I even bought a really cool Dell to replace my 2015 Mac Pro. The Dell is very capable, but Windows 10… it’s a headshot. You just can’t use Windows. Garbage!
If you want a top-of-the-line Apple device, you’ll have to pay at least 300% more than equivalent Dell hardware. I think that’s too much. 50%, 70% more, okay, we can understand that it’s branding and the operating system. But 300% is just outrageous.
Finally, after using only Apple smartphones from iPhone I, II, III, 4, 5, 6, and 7… I decided to give Samsung’s S9 a chance. I will never have an iPhone again. The S9 is outrageously better. Everything I have on my iCloud and Mac, I share 100% with my S9.
Yeah… Either Apple wakes up and turns back to the market, or the market will turn its back on Apple.
